Why Brains Are Gendered
from Beetroot on 02/03/2019 01:35 AMIn this post I will copy-paste several of my arguments I have written out on why brains are gendered, as well as why gender genderfluidity is impossible.
What makes a person dysphoric is the levels of white brain matter vs grey brain matter in the four regions of the brain. These differences make up the two brain sexes: The male brain and the female brain. Female brains have a higher percentage of grey matter, while men have a higher percentage of white matter and CSF. The white/grey matter ratio in females is consistently higher in the frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipatal lobes, as well as in the cingulate gyrus and insula. In the parietal cortex, there is thicker grey matter in female than in males, which has been shown consistently throughout lifespans. Also, the straight gyrus, a narrow strip that runs along the midline on the undersurface of the frontal lobe, is about 10% larger in females than males.
To add onto the gender differences, a male brain has larger absolute volumes in the intracranial space (12%), total brain (11%), cerebrum (10%), grey matter (9%), white matter (13%), regions filled with CSF (11.5%), and cerebellum (9%). Males on average have larger volumes and higher tissue densities in the left amygalda, hippocampus, insular cortex, and putamen. Not to mention that they have higher densities in the right VI lobe of the cerebellum and in the left claustrum, and larger volumes in the bilateral anterior parahippocampul gyri.
